Pre-K/K

Art Sampler

Students will participate in a variety of activities including painting, collage, mixed media work and more! In this discovery of colors, textures, shapes and design, your child will not only learn the fundamentals of art but also create art work that challenges his or her creativity and personal expression. (6 week session)

Create a Picture Book

Become a real author and illustrator of your own book. Bring home a masterpiece for the whole family to enjoy. Using collage, markers, color pencil and more, you'll create this one-of-a-kind picture book! (6 week session)

Ceramics

Explore sculpture and ceramics working with kiln-fired clay. Create useful items or artistic gifts and learn unique, yet simple, ceramic technique. Your objects will be artistically glazed and completed as a finished piece in this class. (6 week session)

Cultural Study of the Arts

Children will explore ancient studies of Greek and Egyptian cultures. Learn how to create hieroglyphics or a Grecian amphora (pottery from Greece). This class will use a variety of media, including paint, clay, pastels and more. (6 week session)

Drawing

This intensive, 6 week course focusing on drawing is intended to get the student's portfolio ready for college. While the focus is academic, students will have the opportunity to learn new techniques as they explore this foundational skill for all artistic endeavors. (6 week session)

Painting

This intensive, 6 week course focusing on painting is intended to get the student's portfolio ready for college, as well as expand his or her knowledge of different mediums and techniques. Metal Designs

This course will be an introduction to the techniques of cutting, joining and finishing metal. Students will learn the 7 joints and beginning fabrication techniques for metal design. These skills will allow students to build the foundation needed to create pieces now and in the future. (8 week session)

Painting with Pastels with Barbara Remley Martin

Using pastels in a painterly method, students will become more familiar with color, texture, under-painted supports and various types of pastels. Each class will include color exercises, painting demonstrations and painting time. Still-life and photographic references are used with an emphasis on skill development and understanding color combinations. (8 week session)

Watercolor with Beverly Hoffman

Come paint with professional watercolor artist and instructor Beverly Hoffman. Throughout the class, students will paint an array of subjects, including still life, landscape, figures, or their own unique themes. Whatever your goals or aspirations with watercolor, this class can help develop your creative impulses or help you learn new techniques that will enrich your artistic skills. The second session of this watercolor course can serve as either an introductory class or a continuation of the first session. (4 week session)

Metal Designs with Sherri Jaudes

Have you ever been inspired by an amazing piece of jewelry, a unique metal sculpture, or even an elegant decorative accent for your home and wished you could learn the basics of creative metal design? Join nationally-recognized metalsmith Sherri Jaudes in this 8 week class where students learn the seven joints of metal work, as well as beginning fabrication techniques, joining, and finishing skills. Your creativity truly is the limit to the genre, style, and types of metal designs you explore, while enjoying this tremendous opportunity to learn something new. (8 week session)

Pottery with Janny Lai

Want to try the pottery wheel but a little nervous about slinging mud? Take this introductory pottery wheel course and you'll be astounded at what you can create! Take inspiration from famous ceramicists or explore your own ideas, as instructor Janny Lai guides you through the basics of the pottery wheel and working with clay and glazes. Students will walk away with finished glazed ceramic pieces. (6 week session)

Painting for the Beginner and Intermediate with Kathy Ladd and Jennifer Klemp

While you may have explored different painting techniques in the past, many developing artists never get the opportunity to experiment with the vast array of traditional and non-traditional painting mediums available. Take the opportunity to explore oil and acrylic painting with still-life, portraiture and more! Underpainting techniques, the utilization of different mixing mediums with oil paints, and color mixing is just the beginning of the many useful skills students will learn. This class is designed for those who are just beginning or those who would like to get back into painting. (6 week session)

Landscape Painting with Barry Sullivan

Landscape painting will consist of field trips to local parks as well as in-studio time. Learn how to create atmospheric perspective using cool and warm color theory and other techniques needed in great landscape paintings. Try painting with oil, acrylics, watercolor and more! (6 week session)

Peruvian Pottery Workshop with Polo Ramirez

Use the ancient technique of working with your hands and feet to create these one-of-a-kind Peruvian pots! Internationally known artist Polo Ramirez will show you how to create these pieces of art using rustic tools such as round rocks and wooden paddles. Join us for a two day workshop!

Shibori with Lynn Maasberg

Shibori is a Japanese term for several methods of dyeing cloth with a pattern by binding, stitching, folding and twisting. Students will try out different techniqiues and then put their own twist on a t-shirt or pillowcase.

In this workshop students will learn a variety of techniques in the design and creation of jewelry pieces to wear or give as gifts. The materials they will use are the new P.M.C. silver clay, sterling and copper wire, sculpey and more. Pieces will be embellished. Derived from "oru" (fold) and "kami" (paper), the word "Origami" comes from China and literally translates into "the art of folding paper."
