To Commemorate the 90th Anniversary, SLWG Presents A Year of Festivals!
Writers in the Park – August 28, 2010
In the 1940s and 1950s, St. Louis Writers Guild had a proud tradition of holding writers’ conferences. In honor of those great events, SLWG will host a writers’ festival in Kirkwood Park. Workshops throughout the day will include a variety of genres, editing and querying agents, a workshop for children, a booth to sell member’s books, and plenty of food for all to enjoy.

Scheduled workshops:

  • Querying an Agent: Writing for Young Adults - Cole Gibsen, author of Katana
  • Querying a Publisher: Mystery Writing - Judy Moresi, author of Widow's Walk
  • Children's Writing Workshop: Writers Ages 8 - 14 - Faye Adams, author of Chester the Lonely Crow
  • Memoir/Biography Writing - Peter Green, author of Dad's War with the United States Marines
  • Editing Essentials - Mary Menke, essaying and owner of WordAbilities LLC
  • Sci-fi/Fantasy Writing - Jaclyn Devey, 2009 SLWG Short Story Contest Winner
  • Writing for the Internet - David Lucas, internet columnist
  • Romance Writing - Dr. Rebecca Carron Wood, author of Full Moon Hotel

The Winter Gala – December 4, 2010
A grand dinner gala culminating the end of the 90th anniversary festivities will be an homage to the events that were the core of the SLWG monthly meetings back in the 1930s.
